AS, A2 and FE

My name is Rebecca and I work as the Visual Arts Education Officer at Tullie House. I developed a passion for visual art whilst studying History of Art as part of my undergraduate degree, and went on to take an MA in Art Museum and Gallery Education at Newcastle University.
 
A large part of my role involves working with young people to help them get the most out of both the permanent historical art collections and the changing contemporary art exhibitions at Tullie House. So, I am responsible for planning a variety of creative events, workshops and resources to encourage young people to explore the diverse art works on display in the galleries.
 
Currently, I am developing workshops for secondary school students aimed at enhancing the experience of studying Art and Design at school. The workshops will be led by creative practitioners with specialisms in variety of artistic techniques, giving participating students the opportunity to develop or practice their practical art techniques. The workshops will be linked to art works in the permanent collection and works in the contemporary art exhibitions. Also, I will be designing downloadable online resources for secondary school pupils and teachers aimed at providing creative ways of engaging with art, craft and design. These resources are intended to enhance learning and teaching both as part of the Art and Design National Curriculum and in a wider context.
