This new gallery is a complete transformation of the museum's Social History Gallery, taking a fresh look and a new approach to the Carlisle area's recent past, with the emphasis on people and their stories.
The main themes are home, work and leisure, and the central feature is a tower of 'faces of Carlisle' past and present. Audio-visual features use moving and still images from the city and its environs.
The gallery is designed to be as flexible as possible, so that changes can be made easily, and new stories and acquisitions featured regularly - particulary in response to community interests and requests.
