Hand-crafted Roman Woodscape

Woodscapes, such as this Roman Legionary, are designed to give a unique three-dimensional quality to familiar scenes and images.  Individually created by Haydn Monk, a local craft worker based in the Solway area of North Cumbria, Haydn uses layers of wood with differing grains and textures in an attempt to emphasise depth and distance.
