May Half Term - Music Workshops: Sustainable Sounds

Tullie House will be celebrating National Family Week by running fantastic, bookable workshops and drop-in sessions that the whole family can enjoy together. The 2013 Carlisle Music City Week has got us feeling very musical here at Tullie House! Join Michael Freeman from Sustainable Sounds who will be helping us create sound art using funky junk in today's drop-in session.
This activity is free, however donations are greatly appreciated.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
May Half Term - Drama Workshops: Pyjama Drama Play

11am, 12.30pm and 2pm Tullie House will be celebrating National Family Week by running fantastic, bookable workshops and drop-in sessions that the whole family can enjoy together. Sarah Watt from Pyjama Drama will be running wonderful drama and creative play workshops especially for our younger visitors today. Be a part of the 2013 Carlisle Music Festival and enjoy songs and imaginative fun at Tullie House!
Tickets: £3 per child (Free for accompanying parent or carer). 15 places available for participants, booking advised. These one hour workshops are particularly suitable for those aged 3-8 and their families, visit our website for further details. To book, please call the Box Office on 01228 618700.

Tullie House will be celebrating National Family Week by running fantastic, bookable workshops and drop-in sessions that the whole family can enjoy together. We are celebrating Local History Month at Tullie House today. Have you ever wondered what you get when you wrestle a Reiver or if the Roman ever got back over the wall? How did Jack get back down from Blencathra? What happened when the North wind blew down Carlisle Castle’s walls? Join Storyteller Ian Douglas for storytelling and story making sessions and you might just find out the answers!
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
This activity is free but donations are welcomed at the door.
Tullie Toddlers – Go Green

Why not bring your under 5s to our free play sessions. Drop into the community room anytime between 12.30pm and 2.30pm where we will be celebrating World Environment Day.
Activities include painting, a ‘sticking table’ of crafts, dressing up clothes and a wide selection of toys to suit all ages.
Don’t worry if your Tullie toddler wants to be the next Jackson Pollock as the community room at Tullie House has hand washing facilities, babywipes and aprons available.
Please note: This is not a crèche. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Numbers will be limited to 25 adults and children at any one time.

Festival of British Archeaology - Medieval Times

For this year's festival we are planning to go back in time as we explore how people of the past used to live. Enter our museum and meet experimental archaeologist, Graham Taylor. Find out more about our objects and see how they were made and used in a fascinating encounter with our potter from the past.
Tim Padley, our Curator of Archaeology will be running 'Archaeology Insights' an engaging series of object handling session and talks throughout the week.
These events will take place in the Border Galleries and are suitable for adults and children.

Festival of British Archeaology - Medieval Madness Drop-In

In the Community Room our drop-in sessions run from 1pm - 4pm, and explore our archaeological collection in fun, imaginative way. Be inspired by our collections and exhibitions in our informal sessions suitable for all the family. Today we will be creating Medieval trebuchets which were catapults used to throw heavy stones into castle and city walls. We will use paper ammo today, instead of rocks, so we don’t end up being punished in the Tullie House stocks!
Activities are free, however donations are greatly appreciated. Normal admission charges apply to the galleries. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
There may be some queuing, so please be prepared to wait patiently.

Be inspired by our collections and exhibitions in our informal sessions suitable for all the family. Many of the Roman artefacts in our galleries have little numbers or images printed on to them. This is the brand left by the creator so you knew who had made the item. In our drop-in session we will be creating our very own brands. How will you leave your mark?
