Life in Roman Carlisle
To coincide with our new gallery - Roman Frontier Gallery: Stories Beyond Hadrian’s Wall, we have rewritten our Roman Object session. Using original artefacts discovered in Cumbrian excavations, and replicas, we have created 5 characters for the children to explore in order to build up a picture of the type of people living in Roman Carlisle. These include an off-duty Roman soldier a Celtic Trader, a Celtic Farmer, a rich Roman man and a Roman woman.
The children will use the objects and their imagination to bring the characters to life resulting in either a presentation or mini role-play depending on your preference.
Why not combine this session with a visit to the exciting new gallery with lots of child friendly interactives and a comparison with contemporary ‘walls’ dividing communities.
Life in Roman Carlisle runs for 2 hours and can be booked at any time subject to availability.
