Tullie House Assemblies in Schools 

When you start a new topic why not have Tullie House visit you at school to introduce the subject and get your class excited and engaged during one of our interactive assemblies. 

We are currently offering assemblies on The Romans, Vikings and The Border Reivers and New for 2018/19 Egyptians.

Assemblies las 30 minutes and can be delivered to large groups. They can be booked at any time during the school year but we require one month's notice to book our staff! 

Tullie House Assemblies are free to member schools or £25 to non-member schools to help towards our delivery costs.

    

Natural England Assembly Week - Habitats

1 to 5 October 2018 and 4 to 8 March 2019

Sue Woodland from Natural England will visit your school to deliver interactive assemblies with a Tullie House twist looking at habitats like woodlands, peat bogs and hay meadows in Cumbria.

West Cumbria Wild Rivers Assembly Weeks

19th to 23rd November 2018 and 11th to 15th February 2019

FREE 30 minute assembly - only available to schools in Copeland and Allerdale

Find out more about rivers and lakes in your area with this interactive river assembly suitable  for Key Stage 2 children. West Cumbria Rivers Trust  will be using objects from the Museum's collection to inspire and excite about our freshwater natural heritage.

Chinese New Year Assembly Week

4th to the 8th February 2019

To celebrate Chinese New Year we are offering FREE 40 minute interactive assemblies in school, all about the celebrations and traditions associated with this festival with our Chinese language teacher.

Outreach Special Events 

Diwali Week - 29th Oct - 2nd Nov 2018

To celebrate the Hindu festival of light, Priya Sundar will explore Diwali using dance, storytelling and objects from the museum collection. 

(£125 per half day. Session last for 1 hour and can accommodate a class of up to 35. Subject to school timetable we can fit in 2 session per half day)

 

We Will Remember Them - 5 to 9 November 2018

This one hour session explores WW1 and remembrance using objects and costume and focusses on the story of Poppy and her brother Wilfred. 

(£110 per half day. Session lasts for 1 hour and can accomadate a class of up to 35. Subject to school timetable we can fit in 2 session per half day.) 

 

Romans, Reivers and Royalty: 2000 Years of History at Burgh By Sands Church - 10th - 14th June 2019

In this special 2 hour session at Burgh By Sands Church, we will bring history to life through objects and costume. The session will be hands on and also focus on chronological skills using examples from the church's amazing history. During the session your class will explore the beautiful building and examine the physical clues that tell us its fascinating story. 

FREE (Schools need to provide their own transport to the church) 

 

Habitats Week at Finglandrigg Wood Nature Reserve - 24th - 28th June 2019

Natural England Staff will lead a day of activities inspired by the reserve and neighbouring farm. Your class will take part in three workshops looking at famrning, bugs and beasties and biodiversity.
