The popular George Howard Gallery in Old Tullie House has been reimagined in a collaborative exhibition with Prism Art Studio Arts.

Tullie House Museum is delighted to announce that it has been successful in a major funding application to the DCMS / Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund to create a stunning new fashion and costume gallery.

Tullie house Museum and Art Gallery has won its third award in the space of a week thanks to VisitEngland.

The latest accolade for the museum is VisitEngland’s ‘Best Told Story’, awarded annually as part of VisitEngland’s Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme.

The secret’s out -Tullie House has a hidden garden! A small and tranquil space in the middle of the city, where youth and community groups will work together building a home for nature.

In order to make the garden the perfect space for birds, bees and butterflies, work begins on Thursday 30th of June with Carlisle Young Carers. They will work with Cumbria Bio-Diversity Centre and A&R Landscaping to create a nature trail and to learn about which species of plant will attract local wildlife.

As part of the CELEBRATE: LGBT History in Cumbria Project, photographer and visual artist, Colin Tennant, spent time with a group of older people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in Cumbria and documented aspects of their lives.

Tullie House has transformed its first floor Exhibitions Gallery into a discovery play space inspired by their collections! The gallery has been open for a week now and hundreds of visitors have enjoyed discovering, exploring and playing in the new space.
