Women were the heartbeat of the Pre-Raphaelite movements. If we imagine a Pre-Raphaelite work of art what often comes to mind is an extraordinary, androgynous-looking woman in a scene painted with jewel-like colours.

A long-term collaborative project between Tullie House Museum and Cumbria Archives to address the lack of diversity within Cumbria's collections and records.

Curatorial Tours - Tuesdays
Get a more in-depth look at the collections and make the most of the curators' expertise with our regular gallery tours.
Tours take place 2 - 2.30pm and are included with general admission/an annual ticket.

Travelling Stories
Prism artists Jonathan Harkins and Harvey Tye have continued their interest in the Japanese collections at Tullie House. In 2021 they were commissioned to create artistic responses to contemporary Japanese prints transferred to Tullie House from Derbyshire Schools Library Service.

Once Upon A Planet
The story of our planet is at a crucial chapter. This brand-new exhibition uses Tullie House’s nationally significant Natural Science collections to explore the impact of climate change on the animals, plants and habitats around us.

Following the Uncovering Roman Carlisle at Tullie, the exhibition will continue in tour venues around North Cumbria.

Summer Family Eco-Crafts
To tie in with our Once Upon A Planet exhibition, we have a summer full of family crafts planned. With an eco twist!
We'll be reusing and recycling materials for all crafts in the name of sustainability!
All sessions are drop in, 1 - 4pm.

Summer Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF)
We're looking forward to taking part in Cumbria's Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme this summer.
Every Monday in the summer Holidays (Monday 25 July - Monday 29 August) we'll be offering a range of activities for children along with a hot meal. For free!

The second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
Arts Explorers is a new activity club / drop-in for young people aged 12-15 looking for creative fun!

Love Your Planet Comic Art Workshop
Join art students Izak and Chloe to make an imaginative pocket comic.
There will be story prompts to choose from, a variety of art materials and creative talent to help you illustrate your wild imagination.
Plus you get to take your cute little comic home!

A Plastic Ocean - Another Way Short Film Festival
Part of our Once Upon A Planet event and activities programme. We're showing films chosen by Another Way to coincide with our exhibition all about climate change and sustainability.

Summer Craft Fair
We are excited to be hosting our very own Summer Craft Fair over the August bank holiday weekend.
With lots of local crafters, creatives and designers it's not to be missed. We'll also have workshops, including ceramics and felting.
