Established in 2010, New Light celebrates and promotes Northern art, supporting both well-known and emerging artists by offering some of the region’s best awards and opportunities with the biennial New Light Prize Exhibition, which is fast becoming one of the UK’s largest and most talked about open exhibitions. Tullie House are here to help anyone who is considering applying to the New Light Prize Exhibition competition. This support may be particularly helpful for new applicants or diverse artists to help them access opportunities to show and sell their work.

We are providing various online video guidance via our website and social media channels to help all eligible artists to complete the application process and offer any necessary assistance.

FAQ’s

Q: How much will it cost to enter?

A: You will be charged £20 each for your first two entries, and £10 for any subsequent entries.

Q: How much will it cost if successful?

A: Selected works must be delivered to Scarborough Museum on the agreed date.

All work must be framed unless agreed otherwise with New Light before delivery to Scarborough Art Gallery

Any unsold pieces collected after the exhibition tour finishes at Bankside Art Gallery, London, on the specified dates. If it is not possible to collect from Bankside Gallery within the stated timeframe, New Light will arrange delivery to a collection point in Harrogate and a nominal charge will be made to help cover the cost. However, all carriage between exhibition venues will be covered by New Light

Q: Can I cancel my entry and get a refund?

A: Once a work has been submitted and the appropriate fee paid, no refund will be made.

Q: How many times can I enter?

A: There is no maximum number of submissions per artist; however no more than 3 works will be shortlisted per artist.

Q: What format do I submit my artwork in?

A: Entrants should submit their work in JPEG, TIFF or PNG format.

Q: When will I know if I have been successful?

A: Shortlisted entrants will be notified by mid – August 2020.
